LISTEN LIVE TO THE HOPS ALL SEASON LONG ON FOX SPORTS RADIO 620 - NEXT GAME: TUES 6/19 vs. EUGENE - 7PM
For Hops fans, it was a night for celebration in Hillsboro as baseball was officially brought back to the Portland Metro area. Minor League and Diamondback dignitaries were present for the first ever home game in Hillsboro Hops history. Pregame festivities included the delivery of the home plate that was dug up at PGE Park 1,015 days ago, as well as the introduction of the game's lineups by the voice of the Hops, Rich Burk.
The return of baseball was not the only reason for Hops fans to rejoice; the Hops recorded their first win in franchise history, scoring in the first inning, as well as the next five. The 12-0 victory over the Eugene Emeralds in front of an electric crowd of 4,710 was sparked early by a two-run home run in the second inning, courtesy of 2013 draftee Jordan Parr. The Hops scored their twelfth and final run in the sixth inning on a Zach Esquerra fielders' choice that scored Hops' center fielder Brian Billigen.
