LISTEN LIVE AS THE HOPS TRAVEL TO EVERETT FOR A SERIES AGAINST THE AQUASOX. GAME 1 IS TODAY AT 7PM ON FOX SPORTS RADIO 620.
On a windy night at Hillsboro Ballpark, and before a crowd of 2,744 spectators, the Hillsboro Hops won game three of their series against the Eugene Emeralds by a score of 2-1. The win secured the first ever series win in Hops franchise history, and was the Hops second victory of the year.
The Hops starter was Ben Eckels making his second start (1-1) of the year. Eckels threw five-and-a-third innings, allowing four Emeralds hits, while striking out five. The one run victory was the first time in the season that the Hops bullpen has held and saved a game with only a one run lead. In relief of Eckels was converted starter, Karl Triana, who pitched two-and-two-thirds innings of hitless, scoreless baseball. With the Hops up 2-1 going into the ninth, Yoimer Camacho made his third appearance of the year, recording his first save of the year.
The save was not without drama, as two Eugene singles put runners on first and third. With one out and runners on the corners, Camacho induced a double play, game-ending Gebhardt to Mateo double play.
