A cougar is caught in Vancouver

A cougar is caught in Vancouver

Early Friday morning, a dog chased a female cougar up a tree in Vancouver.  It happened near Northeast 117th and Major Street which is east of I-205.

The cougar was hit with two tranquilizers to make it safe for transport.  It was placed in a metal cage and will be moved to a forest where it'll be released.

Murray Schlenker, with Washington Fish and Wildlife says pet food left outside is very tempting for older cougars that might get run out of their territory by younger cats.

Schlenker says this cougar is an older female.
