Long standoff ends in arrest

A man was taken into custody in Forest Grove following an eight hour stand-off with police.  It began with a call of a man who was armed man with a gun

Forest Grove Police arrived at K & S Auto Sales located at 3821 Pacific Avenue Wednesday afternoon after a witness reportedly observed a man with a gun walk through the parking lot and enter the business. Officers arrived on scene within seconds of the call and learned that a robbery was in progress. Officers learned moments later that the owner of the business was engaged in a volatile physical struggle inside and that shots had been fired by the suspect in the struggle. These rounds reportedly narrowly missed hitting the business owner.

Police surrounded the location and requested additional assistance. The business owner along with a woman and small child were able to escape the business leaving the armed suspect inside.

Members of the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team responded to the scene and attempted to negotiate Glanville's surrender over several hours. 56-year-old Gregory Glanville was still armed and reportedly made threats to kill police and others during the standoff. After attempts to negotiate with Glanville failed, officers deployed chemical agents in an attempt to force him out. Glanville was eventually taken into custody early Thursday morning.

The business owner suffered minor injuries during his struggle with the suspect. The woman and child were not injured. No officers were injured in the incident.

Glanville will be lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of Firearm. Glanville will also be lodged on a Deschutes County Warrant.
