Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard, OR 99E, will be closed in both directions near downtown Milwaukie this weekend while crews install steel girders for a new light rail bridge over the roadway.
The closure will begin at 10 p.m. Friday Aug. 15 with all lanes re-opened by 5 a.m. Monday Aug. 19.
The road will be closed between Southeast Washington Street and River Road.
Motorists should plan alternate routes or expect lengthy delays.
Access to businesses and residences in the closure area will be maintained at all times. For specific detour information and maps, visit trimet.org/pm/construction.
During the closure, construction crews will set in place six large steel girders for a section of the new Kellogg Bridge, which will carry light rail from downtown Milwaukie over Kellogg Lake, over McLoughlin Boulevard and residential streets before returning to grade south of River Road.
The 7.3-mile Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail is scheduled to open in September 2015.
